Operation Sand Flea announces the 6,000th soldier recipient in the donation campaign that sends Skincando's Combat-Ready Balm to troops in dire need of relief from sand flea bites, sunburn and dry skin caused by the extreme climate and conditions in the Middle East.
Operation Sand Flea began in 2008 after the wife of a military service member sent Combat-Ready Balm to her husband stationed in Iraq. Requests quickly came pouring in from troops impressed with the only remedy they'd ever found to simultaneously combat their array of severe skin issues, according to a Skincando press release.
Skincando founder, Sara Damelio, began sending care packages with thank you notes on a regular basis, and the project grew to allow clients to donate directly to the troops and their loved ones fighting overseas. With a portion of every Skincando purchase funding Operation Sand Flea, Damelio has been able to ship her 6,000th package to SPC Timothy Forgie, who is currently stationed in Kuwait.
The Combat-Ready products are available at select retailers across the country and at www.skincando.com.
