Editor's Note

Welcome to the September/October edition of Advance for Healthy Aging. First off, I'd like to introduce myself.

I come to Advance with about 15 years of editorial experience in my backpack, including several years working on allied health, laboratory and surgical publications. Now that I'm with Healthy Aging, I feel honored to be associated with such a passionate and professional group of practitioners.

Since I joined the magazine in June, I've had the pleasure to speak or correspond with our writers, board members, industry representatives and even several readers. Overall, what they've stressed to me is the importance of clear, accurate information, both for our core readership as well as for our new Web audience of consumers. High-level information is something the staff at Healthy Aging has always been committed to providing-a commitment that's getting even stronger now.

In case you haven't noticed yet, this summer we launched a Patient Resource Center area on the Healthy Aging Web site (accessible though our home page or directly at www.iamhealthyaging.com). There, consumers can find well-researched articles on wellness, skin health, cosmetic procedures as well as daily Healthy Aging news items. We have excellent and active physician bloggers, an Ask-the-Doctor feature and videos featuring interviews and demonstrations. Our goal with the patient site is to create the most credible, medically-vetted area on the Web for this kind of information.

Why? Because we want your patients to be informed. The Web is overflowing with misinformation that can influence how consumers care for themselves and make important decisions. Of course, you are an integral part of the education process every time you speak with a patient. With our Patient Resource Center, you can trust that your patients will be getting information from like-minded professionals, and we encourage you to take advantage of this as an adjunct to the educational tools you already use with patients.

Please also note that information from the Patient Resource Center, as well as the main Web site, is posted as updates on our Facebook and Twitter accounts. Sign up to become fans and followers to make sure you don't miss new features or breaking news. It's a great way to keep up-to-date on the industry, and it lets us get to know you.
